Students design earthen diyas for Karthika Pournami at TGWRDCW Sircilla

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, NOVEMBER 14, 2024: The students’ skills and artistry have come to the fore with the making of artistic earthenware diyas in the run-up for Kartika Pournami celebrations at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for women, Shatrajpalli, Vemulawada, Rajanna-Sircilla district on Thursday.

To educate the students to make earthenware diyas (oil lamps) for the Karthika Pournami festivities, the college management had imparted special training to the students to make diyas using clay. This hands-on activity not only allowed students to immerse themselves in the spiritual and cultural aspects of the festival but also emphasized ecological awareness and environmental sustainability. The students designed different varieties of earthen diyas and won accolades.

The initiative was a blend of tradition, devotion, and ecological mindfulness, aimed at highlighting the benefits of diyas and dhoop sticks, both spiritually and environmentally. In this programme, Principal PSR Sharma, Vice Principal B Sumalatha, Head of the dept of Botany R Deepthi, Lecturer in Botany Ayesha Fathima and all other faculty members have participated and applauded students for their creative work.
