On Sunday, 20 floodgates lifted to release 1.3 lakh cusecs of water into the downstream river Godavari
PEDDAPALLI, SEPTEMBER 29, 2024: The floodgates of Sripada Yellampalli Project in Ramagundam mandal remained for over a month due to copious inflows into the project following the incessant rains in its catchment areas.
On Sunday, the irrigation authorities lifted 20 floodgates out of a total of 62 gates and released 1.3 lakh cusecs of water downstream into the river Godavari. Against the full capacity of 20.175 tmcs, the authorities maintain the water level at 20.0087 tmcs. The project was receiving inflows of 1.30 lakh cusecs including 81,234 cusecs from SRSP and 49,175 cusecs from its catchment area.
Presently, the irrigation authorities were supplying 300 cusecs of water to Hyderabad metro water works and 121 cusecs to NTPC powerhouse to store at its reservoir. The Vemunuru and Nandi pump houses were not being operated.
