HYDERABAD, AUGUST 23, 2024: Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, on Friday observed the National Space Day with the theme of “Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga” to commemorate the landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the surface of the Moon on August 23, 2023.
It is a tribute to the tireless efforts of scientists, engineers and researchers who always propel India’s Space programme for global recognition.
Chief guest of the programme was Mr Naga Bhushana Reddy MD, Nagasai Precision Engineers Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad, who has more than 40 years of experience in manufacturing and supplying high-precision mechanical parts to Aerospace industries in a cost-effective manner. His job is to make and supply small components to ISRO so small components play a significant role in the construction of satellites. He briefed the students about the critical role of energy storage in aerospace applications. It provides power for satellites, extravehicular activities, planetary landers and during orbit time.
Students exhibited their model on the topic “Our Chandrayaan”. A Poster making competition was conducted on the topic “Journey of Chandrayann” and prizes were awarded to the winners. Around 300 students participated in the “Bharat on Moon” online portal programme conducted by the Ministry of Education”. The quiz was conducted for middle school and higher Secondary classes. Class X students presented Power PowerPoint presentation on dark energy and a comparison study on Chandrayaan to educate the students of classes VIII and IX and inspire them to explore space.
Principal and Academic Director Dr.T Lalitha Kumari spoke on significance of Space day and also motivated students to become job creators instead of job seekers. The programme aims at inspiring future generation to pursue career STEM fields, foster interest in Space Science and show case the benefits of space technology in improving lives. PGT (Physics) Sudha Srinivasan and other faculty members were also present.
