Sister Nivedita School celebrates National Sports Day with enthusiasm

HYDERABAD, AUGUST 29, 2024:  Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, observed the National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and fervour which is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand on Thursday (August 29).

The day highlights the importance of sports and physical activities for overall health. The theme for National Sports Day 2024 is ‘’Sports for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies”

Principal Dr T Lalitha Kumari hoisted the sports flag and paid tributes to Major Dhyan Chand by recalling his contribution to the country and Indian Sports in particular. She also enlightened the gathering that the day embraces sportsmanship and brotherhood that comes with sports.

To mark the significance of National Sports Day, the primary wing of Sister Nivedita School came alive with enthusiasm as many sports activities and competitions were organized to inculcate the importance of athletics among the students.

To pay tribute to the eminent Indian sports personality children dressed up as their favourite sports personality and spoke about them. Exemplary singing and dance performances mesmerized the gathering perfectly and gained a lot of applause.

The role of coaches and sports teachers in students’ lives is undeniable. On this momentous occasion, dedicated PET teachers who tirelessly nurture the students were honoured and appreciated for their continuous efforts and guidance. The programme was graced by the Correspondent of the school and Rotarian Mr. Harihara Prasad who greeted and appreciated the efforts of all the teachers and the students. School Chairman Dr Polsani Sudhakar Rao congratulated the students for their active participation in the sports. The programme concluded with the students singing the National Anthem in unison.
