Residents of St Antony Colony celebrate Independence Day with gaiety

MANGALURU, AUGUST 15, 2024:  “Today, as we celebrate our freedom, let us also pledge to work towards a future where every citizen can contribute to our nation’s growth. Our diversity is our strength, and our unity is our power. Let us move forward together, upholding the values of democracy, inclusivity, and peace,” said retired Vice Principal of SDM College M Uday Kumar.

Participating as the chief guest in the Independence Day celebrations organized at St Antony Colony of Ashok Nagar of Mangaluru here on Thursday, he said that as India moves forward, the spirit of patriotism and the commitment to national development remain stronger than ever, with the nation’s leadership urging  citizens to contribute to the country’s ongoing progress.

Citing the experiences from his life, he exhorted the youth to strive to achieve the set goal and lead a meaningful life and highlighted India’s progress over the past decades, noting significant achievements in various sectors. The 25th Ward municipal Corporator Jayalaxmi Shetty, President of Datta Orchard Apartments Jaya Prakash Rai, Dr Uday Venkat Mateti, Dr Teresa Pareira, BJP Youth President Devi Prasad Shetty, Eustace Pinto, former President of Datta Orchard B Loknath Shetty and residents of Datta Orchard and Lotus Apartments and others participated. The programme was compered by Durga Prasad Shetty. Later in the evening, elocution, singing and fashion dress competitions were held for children of different age groups.
