NSS formation Day: Volunteers visit an orphanage in Gambhiraopet mandal

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 24, 2024: National Service Scheme volunteers of Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet, in Rajanna-Sircilla district, participated in a series of activities as part of NSS formation day celebrations on Tuesday.

The NSS day began with a rally, which Principal V Vijaya Lakshmi flagged, along with NSS programme officer Paka Dharmapuri. The volunteers carrying placards went around the mandal headquarters educating the people about the importance of blood donation, social service, plantation of saplings and against sorcery etc.

Later, the volunteers visited an orphanage called ‘Maa Anandashrayam’ in the mandal to interact with the inmates. It aimed at sensitising the volunteers to the needs of senior citizens and reducing their loneliness.

During the visit, volunteers and teachers of the NSS unit interacted with the senior citizens. Besides, they fruits and biscuits to them. They entertained them by reciting poems and singing songs.

On this occasion, Principal Vijaya Lakshmi urged volunteers and programme officers to serve society with the motto ‘Not Me, But You’. She said the NSS volunteers have a significant role in building character, and every student should take part in its activities. He called upon the students to enrol as NSS volunteers by registering their names and serving society and improving their overall personality development.

A  BSC Bzc final year student Ch Sagarika had rendered a beautiful poem on NSS activities. On this occasion, the certificates were distributed to various NSS volunteers. Vice Principal Prabhakar, faculty members V Vani, Y Anjaneyulu, K Sravan, Adi Vishnu, Sucharan, Krishna Prasad, Mahesh, Shailaja, Bhargavi, Deepika, Srinivas, Ramulu, Jagannatham and others participated in the programmes.
