JAGTIAL, SEPTEMBER 24, 2024: The National Service Scheme (NSS) formation day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour at the Government Degree College for Women in Jagtial town on Tuesday.
Volunteers presented a variety of cultural shows including group dances, folk dances and solo dances and entertained the audience. Besides, the volunteers also recited the NSS song. They also gave motivational speeches on the duties and responsibilities of NSS volunteers towards society.
The celebrations were conducted under the leadership of Principal K Ramakrishna. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramakrishna called upon the NSS volunteers to play a responsible role in the development of villages by understanding their problems and protecting of environment from pollution.
Participating as Chief Guest, retired lecturer and NSS National award winner S Manohara Chary said that the participation of students in NSS activities would transform them with complete awareness about the social issues and their motto to serve the country. He said that the NSS would help them develop leadership qualities and overall personality development.
Reminding the NSS started on September 24, 1969 with only 40,000 volunteers in the country is now having 38 lakh volunteers, he called upon the volunteers to participate in the NSS actively and help serve the society with their social work. NSS programme officers G Srilatha, D Sujatha, vice principal Chandraiah, faculty members N Vasavi, T Pramod Kumar, K Ramchander, G Neeraja, V Jamuna, Sunitha and others were also present.
