National Maths Day Celebrations: Unleashing the Joy of Numbers

HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 20, 2024:  As a part of National Mathematics Day celebrations the Students from grades 3, 4, and 5 celebrated National Mathematics Day with immense enthusiasm and zeal at Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, on Thursday (December 19, 2024).

The celebrations were conducted as a prelude to the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, whose remarkable contributions continue to inspire the world of mathematics (whose birth anniversary is celebrated on December 22). The programme aimed to highlight the significance of mathematics in our daily lives and to ignite a love for numbers among young learners.

The event’s highlight was the “Mathematicians’ Parade,” where students dressed as renowned mathematicians such as Srinivasa Ramanujan, Shakuntala Devi, and Aryabhata. They captivated the audience by sharing fascinating facts and achievements, demonstrating both knowledge and creativity.

The celebration also featured various engaging activities including a musical dance exploring shapes and time and a short skit titled “Math is Everywhere,” illustrating the integral role mathematics plays in everyday life.

Students presented math riddles and shared intriguing mathematical facts, refreshing the audience’s perspective on the subject.

The Chairman of the institution, Dr Sudhakar Rao Polsani, the Correspondent of the institution, Rotarian Harihara Prasad and the Principal Dr. T.Lalitha Kumari applauded the performers. The event concluded with a promise to continue exploring and celebrating the wonders of mathematics.

By celebrating Maths Day, the school aims to cultivate a positive attitude towards mathematics, inspiring students to enhance their problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning. It was truly a day to remember and a step forward in nurturing a generation that appreciates the wonders of mathematics.
