RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, DECEMBER 20, 2024: The Telangana Lokayuktha has instructed the Rajanna-Sircilla district Collector and RDO, who is also in charge of the implementation of the rehabilitation and resettlement package of the Mid Manaiar Dam reservoir, to provide compensation to the land oustees of the project of Chinthalthana village as per the new Land Acquisition Act of 2013.
The Karimnagar district land oustees welfare association president Regulapati Venkat Rao, who is also a land oustee of the MMD from Chinthalthana village, had approached the Lokayuktha seeking compensation as per LA 2013. He informed the Lokayuktha that some of the structures in Chinthalthana village were still un-notified and its abutting lands have not been paid the compensation as per the new Act. Mr Venkat Rao also lodged complaint with RDO, who stated that the lands and structures in Chinthalthana village have been notificed under section 4 (1) of 1894 in the year 2007 and the compensation of the lands was taken over in the year 2007.
The Lokayuktha stated that “it is not in dispute that an award under the said section 11 of 1994 Act, if it is made five years or more before the commencement of 2013 Act and physical possession of the land was not taken and compensation has not been paid, then the said proceedings shall be deemed to have been lapsed and the appropriate government, if it so chooses, shall initiate the proceedings under such land acquisition afresh in-accordance with the provisions of 2013 Act”.
