WARANGAL, MAY 15, 2026: The Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University, Prof. Pratap Reddy, has been presented with the “Doctor of Honoris Causa- 2026” award from the World Academy of Literature, History, Art and Culture (AMLHAC), Mexico, by the president, Dr Xavier Ramiroz S, to the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Head Department of Economics Professor B. Suresh Lal, for his extensive contribution in academic and literature.
He teaches post-graduate level courses and directs a team of doctoral scholars in development economics. He has 30 years of experience in teaching and research. Prof. Lal is a reputed scholar on Development Economics, Health Economics and Economics of Tribal Studies. He serves as Editor of the International Journal of Environment and Development. He has to his credit 30 books and 140 articles in international peer-reviewed and Scopus journals. He completed 6 research projects, mentored 20 PhD scholars, and holds 6 patents. Prof. Lal has a notable Google Scholar h-index of 18 and has received 1.5 million reads on ResearchGate.
Prof. Lal has held several key administrative positions at Kakatiya University, including Principal of University Campus College, Secretary of the University Sports Board, Coordinator of the University NSS Wing, Head of the Department of Economics, Chairman of the Board of Studies in Economics, and NSS Programme Officer.
Prof. Lal was elected Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society UK, the International Academy of Social Sciences USA, and the International Society for Development and Sustainability Japan. He is a member of the editorial board of 45 International Journals. He is a Jury Member of the Global Undergraduate Awards- Ireland, a Member of the Executive Council (EC) of Kakatiya University, and the Joint Secretary of the Indian Economic Association. He has extensively visited 22 countries across the globe on academic assignments.
Prof. Lal was honoured with several (48) awards for his research excellence and community service, including the Indira Gandhi National NSS Award conferred by the President of India (2014), the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the US President (2014), Bharat Shanthi Dooth Award (2018), Best Teacher Award (2020) by Govt. of Telangana, Rabindranath Tagore Literature Award (2023), Nelson Mandela International Excellence Award (2025), Gandhi International Peace Award (2025) and Vice-Chancellor Award for Patents (2026).
