KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 07, 2024: Hamana Unnath Marg (HUM), a voluntary organisation, has distributed over 200 clay idols free of cost to the people of Karimnagar town on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations on Saturday.
The HUM organisation has been distributing clay idols for the last few years as part of its programme to protect the environment from pollution and educate the people to worship only clay idols. HUM founder president Dhanapuri Sagar, treasurer T Tirupati, members G Srinivas, J Ramana, K Ravi Raja, Madhav, Kumar, Satish Kumar and advisor A Sahadev participated and distributed clay idols.
On this occasion, Mr Sagar explained how the idols painted with chemicals and Plaster of Paris (PoP) were harming the biodiversity in the lakes and ponds after the immersion of the idols.
