Fun and Frolic mark Sankranthi festivities at Siddartha high schools in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 10, 2025: The colourful and grand rangolies with gobbemalu, Bhogi mantalu (bonfire), Bhog pallu (a manner of blessing children), Godhadevi and Ranganayakulu kalyanam, Gangireddu, Haridasu, kite flying and fun and frolic mark the Makara Sankranthi celebrations at Siddartha high school in Mankammathota of Karimnagar town on Friday.

The school had come alive with the little ones dressed in traditional attires taking part in a row of cultural activities with lots of enthusiasm. The Sankranthi is also celebrated as a harvest festival in parts of the country and the students were enlightened about the importance of the festival and the preparation of delicious dishes in Telangana such as Sakinalu, Ariselu,

School chairman Dasari Sripal Reddy launched the celebrations by lighting the lamp and brightening up the place with ‘Bhogi mantalu’ (Bonfire). He also participated in the traditional ‘Bhogi pallu (a manner to bless the children) by showing Indian berries along with flowers to the children.

The school was colourfully decorated with rangoli and flowers. The students were informed about the facts and celebrations of Makara Sankranthi which would be celebrated for four days viz as Bhogi, Makar Sankranthi, Kanuma and Makkanuma. The students were also explained about the importance of Bommala koluvu. They were educated about the kite-flying during this festival.
