Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy Reviews Coal Supply to Thermal Power Stations Across the Country
HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 01, 2026: In view of the significant increase in power consumption across the country, Union Minister for Coal and Mines Shri G. Kishan Reddy directed government coal-producing companies to ensure adequate and uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations having Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs) with them. He also directed Singareni to continue supplying adequate coal, as usual, to the thermal power stations having fuel supply agreements with the Company.
On Tuesday, the Union Minister conducted a special review meeting through video conference with government coal-producing companies across the country regarding coal supply to thermal power stations.
Addressing the meeting, he stated that 28 thermal power stations in the country currently have low coal stocks. He directed the government coal-producing companies supplying coal to these thermal power stations to respond immediately and step up coal transportation to ensure that there is no shortage of coal.
Senior officials from Coal India Limited, Singareni Collieries Company Limited and other government organisations participated in the review meeting.
Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddaprakash Jyoti stated that Singareni is supplying adequate coal to thermal power stations having fuel supply agreements with the Company. He further stated that, keeping the growing power requirements in view, Singareni would continue its efforts to ensure adequate coal supply to these power stations.
Participating in the video conference from Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, along with Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddaprakash Jyoti, were Director (Personnel & Finance) Shri Gawtham Potru, Executive Director (Coal Movement) Shri B. Venkanna, and General Manager (Coordination & Marketing) Shri Tadaboyina Srinivas. From the Head Office, Kothagudem, Director (Operations) Shri L.V. Surya Narayana, Director (Projects & Planning) Shri K. Venkateshwarlu, and Director (E&M) Shri M. Tirumala Rao participated in the video conference.
