

HYDERABAD, APRIL 16, 2025: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) organised a thought-provoking talk on Reading Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Wednesday (April 16, 2025) in Hyderabad. The Equal Opportunity Cell and SC/ST Cell organised the event to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a social visionary of modern India.

Delivering the talk, Chief Guest Prof. Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice Chancellor of the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, emphasised the forms and purpose of the constitution. Quoting Dr. Ambedkar, he felt the need to elaborate the constitutional forms which would help in bringing out the democratic values and constitutional morality. He also elaborated about Dr. Ambedkar’s idea of reordering of the democratic values – freedom, liberty and fraternity.
Thanking the Chief Guest, Prof. N. Nagaraju, Vice Chancellor of the English and Foreign Languages University, emphasised Dr. Ambedkar’s engagement of critical ideas within the framework of the nation. He also pointed out how Dr. Ambedkar anticipated some aspects of the rights discourse.
Prof. Shyam Rao Rathod, Liaison Officer of the SC/ST Cell and Proctor of EFLU, gave the welcome address. Dr. Raju Nayak, from the Department of Indian and World Literatures, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the contributions of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar (I/c), and event organisers for a successful program. The talk witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and administrative staff, reaffirming the university’s commitment to intellectual engagement with Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy.
