
HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 24, 2024: With the secret ballot elections for the recognition of trade unions in Indian Railways scheduled to take place from December 4 to 6, the filing of nomination papers from candidates of different trade unions of South Central Railway was witnessed in Secunderabad on Wednesday.
The Dakshina Madhya Railway Karmik Sangh (DMRKS) affiliated to BMS (Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) took out a rally from Lekha bhavan (Secunderabad East Metro station) to Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad to submit nomination papers of DMRKS South Central Railway General Secretary Sashidharan S to the returning officer. BMS All India Organisation Secretary Surendaran, BRMS general secretary Mangesh Deshpande, BMS Telangana state president Kalal Srinivas, general secretary Turpu Rami Reddy, organizing secretary Ram Mohan, DMRKS zonal secretary K Arjuna Rao, SC divisional secretary P Jagdish and others were also present.

The Secret Ballot Election is the third election in the Indian Railways for recognition of trade unions. In the last two elections held in 2007 and 2013. This time after polling from December 4 to 6, the result of the secret ballot will be announced on December 12.
Speaking on the occasion, BRMS Secretary-General Mangesh Deshpande explained the importance of contest and why DMRKS should be elected as recognised union in Railways. All-India BMS Organising secretary Surendaran explained the problems faced by different cadres like track maintainers, running staff, technical supervisors, train controllers etc and assured to solve their problems. DMRKS general secretary Sashidharan called upon the activists to contact at least 100 employees to ensure the victory of DMRKS in the elections.
The Railway Karamchari Trackmaintainer Association (RKTA) also participated in the rally and its president K Muralikrishna handed over a letter of support to DMRKS. Similarly, Arjuna Awardee and Kabaddi player in SCR team Neeta Dhadwe joined the DMRKS and expressed confidence of DMRKS winning recognition in the elections.
