HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 01, 2024: The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, has maintained a vigilant stance, actively monitoring and detecting various offences related to the illegal stocking and sale of drugs by quacks and unlicensed practitioners, as well as medical shops and godowns operating without a valid drug licence.
It has also been focused on curbing the illegal sale of banned drugs, steroids, and cardiac stimulant drugs that are misused by gym-goers for bodybuilding. Furthermore, DCA has seized drugs that were falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’.
During the raids conducted from 1st to 30st September 2024, DCA seized stocks worth Rs 19.35 lakhs. They had detected nine unlicensed medical shops and godowns and illegal sale of steroids and cardiac stimulants, 26 quacks with unlicenced stocking and sale of drugs, 14 cases of drugs manufactured and sold as food products, one unlicenced manufacturing, three physicians’ samples and expired medicines and one banned drug.
The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, issues drug licenses for the stocking and selling of medicines following the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
