Raids a hospital in Miyapur for running pharmacy without drug licence
The public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 20, 2024: Officials of Drugs Control Administration, Telangana busted an illegal sale of steroid drugs to gym-goers for bodybuilding in Hyderabad.
DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy stated that acting on credible information, the DCA officials unlicensed premises operating under the name ‘Rakesh Distributor,’ at Esamiya Bazar, Koti, Hyderabad, operated by Rakesh Kanodia, on 18th September 2024 and 19th September 2024. During the raid, DCA officers detected an unauthorized stock of a large quantity of steroid medicines for sale. About 22 varieties of steroid medicines, including androgen and anabolic steroids, were found stocked for sale at the premises, indicating the potential for abuse of steroid medicines.
The abuse of androgen and anabolic steroids poses significant health risks. These drugs, often misused by bodybuilders to enhance muscle growth, can lead to a range of adverse effects, including cardiovascular issues, liver damage, mood swings, and hormonal imbalances. Moreover, long-term abuse can result in severe health complications such as infertility, kidney failure, and psychiatric disorders.
DCA officials seized a stock worth a total of Rs. 2 lakhs from Rakesh Kanodia during the raid. V. Ajay, Drugs Inspector, Goshamahal, and P. Santosh, Drugs Inspector, Mehdipatnam, were among the officers who carried out the raid. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders
In another incident, the DCA officials raided Srikanth Neurocentre, a hospital located in Miyapur, Rangareddy District, which was operating a medical shop illegally without a drug license. During the raid, DCA seized stocks worth Rs. 1.01 lakhs from the premises which being operated by Dr Boini Srikanth Yadav.
Officials from the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, acting on credible information regarding the illegal stocking and sale of medicines, raided Srikanth Neurocentre, a hospital located at Flat No. 101, RBR Complex, Opposite K.S. Bakers, Miyapur, Serilingampally, Rangareddy District, on the 18th and 19th of July, 2024. Dr. Boini Srikanth Yadav was found to be illegally operating a medical shop in the hospital without a valid drug licence.
During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale. 31 varieties of medicines were found stocked for sale at the premises. DCA officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 1.01 lakhs during the raid. A. Shylaja Rani, Drugs Inspector, Serilingampally and D. Swetha Bindu, Drugs Inspector, Gandipet are among the officers who carried out the raid.
