Announces to impart yoga training to district employees from New Year onwards
The Collector’s mother participates in yoga competitions and wins a bronze medal
KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 02, 2024: Collector Pamela Satpathy has formally inaugurated the district-level invitation Yoga competitions at Ambedkar Stadium organised by the District Sports and Youth Department and District Yoga Association in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that practising yoga daily as a habit would keep our mind, body, and soul fit and free. Stating that yoga has lots of benefits and is recognized throughout the world, she said that the district administration was planning to impart special yoga training classes to the district employees from the New Year 2025 onwards.
Stating that she was a big fan of Yoga sports, she said that if possible, she would become a sportsperson or at least a team manager and participate in national-level Yoga competitions. Along with meditation, the students should also do yoga asanas regularly to keep them fit and healthy.
Appreciating the students’ presentation of yoga asanas, she said it was surprising to note that the children’s bodies were turning like rubber bands, whether they had bones and muscles or not. Recently, the district Yoga player Deepak bagged a gold medal in the national-level competitions, she said, and she informed all the sportspersons to excel in the national competitions.
Additional Collector Praful Desai said that laughing is also a yoga asana and informed the people to keep smiling and not stress. On this occasion, the Collector felicitated national gold medal winner Deepak and his coach Ramakrishna.
Assistant Collector Ajay Yadav, District Yoga Association President Sardar Ravinder Singh, Collectorate AO P Sudhakar, DSDO Srinivas Goud, district BC welfare officer Anil Kumar, NYK Coordinator Ram Babu, District Yoga Association Vice President Kanna Krishna, general secretary N Sidda Reddy, Telangana Judo association general secretary G Janardhan Reddy, Tahsildar Kali Charan Goudm, TNGOs district president Daram Srinivas Reddy, town president Harminder Singh, coaches V Krishnaiah, Ramakrishna, Malleshwari, Uppala Srinivas, Anand Kishore, B Sushma, Prashanth, Koteshwar Rao, Uday Kiran, Pathi Raju and others were also present.
Around 300 participants were competing in the categories of 8 to 17 years, 17 to 21 years, 21-30 years, 30 to 50 years and 50 plus years categories.
The Collector’s mother Prava Mayi had participated in the yoga competitions as an ordinary sportsperson. She displayed her yoga asana skills and won a bronze medal in the competitions. It was a memorable event as her daughter and Collector Pamela Satpathy presented a medal to her.
