KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 29, 2024: Menstruation is a common phenomenon among adolescent girls and womenfolk, said Collector Pamela Satpathy and informed the people to shun myths about menstruation.
On Thursday, the Collector was speaking at a training on ‘Sustainable menstrual hygiene management’ organised by UNICEF to the district-level officers of ICDS, MEPMA, IKP, Health, Education and others at Swashakthi College in Karimnagar town.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that menstruation is always surrounded by taboos and myths that exclude women from many aspects of socio-cultural life. She informed the trained officials to educate the girls and women about proper hygiene during menstruation and eating proper diet.
She educated the officials to enlighten the women and girls about the need to eat more leafy vegetables, groundnut chikkis and other nutritional food to reduce iron deficiency. She also informed the women and girls to consume more water during menstruation period and practice yoga and small exercises. She instructed the trainees to educate the women and girls and remove myths and taboos about menstruation.
