HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 27, 2024: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy felicitated world chess players Arjun (world rank 3) and Harika (world rank 11) and announced a cash reward of Rs 25 lakhs each in recognition of their outstanding performances at the recently concluded 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary from September 10 to 23, 2024.
Both the Indian Men’s and Women’s teams made history by winning team gold medals, with Mr. Arjun also securing an additional individual gold medal for India, further elevating the nation’s stature on the global chess stage.
The felicitation ceremony was graced by the presence of Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageshwar rao and MLA Nayini Rajendher Reddy and Adviser Vema Narender Reddy, Sports Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, and Sports MD Soni Bala Devi, along with other esteemed dignitaries.
