HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 05, 2026: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju today conducted a review meeting on the development of tourism infrastructure in the state at the Secretariat on Saturday.
He emphasised the need for a focused and strategic approach to tourism development, in accordance with the objectives of the State Tourism Policy. He said that a few select locations with high tourism potential should be identified, and quality hotel infrastructure at these should be developed to cater to the growing needs of tourists.
The CS suggested that suitable properties of the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation could also be upgraded and modernised to provide better accommodation and other facilities to visitors. He further said that government lands and suitable semi-forest lands, wherever permissible under the applicable rules and regulations, could be identified for development of hotels and tourism-related infrastructure.
Chief Secretary stressed the need to create a strong ecosystem around major tourist destinations by improving accommodation, connectivity, amenities and visitor experience. He called for an aggressive and comprehensive tourism promotion strategy to project Telangana as an attractive destination for tourists visiting the state. He suggested identifying persons who can effectively represent Telangana’s tourism potential and help take the state’s tourism brand to a wider audience. He also called for creation of a distinctive and attractive tagline, which could be consistently used in promotional campaigns and branding initiatives.
Chief Secretary directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive strategy for promoting the state’s diverse tourism offerings, including heritage, culture, nature, eco-tourism, adventure tourism and other emerging segments. He said that the unique strengths of different regions of the state should be highlighted and packaged appropriately to attract tourists.
He also called upon the district Collectors to play a proactive role in tourism development. Collectors should identify tourism potential in their respective districts and explore opportunities for developing tourist destinations and related infrastructure.
YAT&C Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad, Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania and other officials attended the meeting.
