Students captivate with their scintillating performances
HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 15, 2024: Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, celebrated its Annual Day function “Ranga Bhoomi, a scintillating symphony!” at Shilpakala Vedika on Thursday. A scintillating symphony and a colourful, spectacular show were put up by the students of classes VI to XII.
Mr E.V. Narasimha Reddy, IAS, Director of School Education and Telangana State Project Director, was the chief guest of the day, and R Rohini, District Education Officer, Hyderabad, was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the guest of honour were accorded a red carpet welcome by the NCC cadets. The guests were honoured with the presentation of saplings.
The function began with an invocation, seeking the blessings of God. Rtn. M Hari Hara Prasad, Correspondent, Sister Nivedita School, welcomed the gathering while the Principal & the Director (Academics) of the school, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari presented the annual report, highlighting the achievements of the school. The chief guest spoke about the importance of education, stating that it is a crucial tool for uplifting both society and the self. He also emphasised the role of parents in the upbringing of a child. He also spoke about the need to practice writing for students, use social media judiciously and be away from drugs & narcotics, inculcate values and morals and explain the various steps being taken up by the Government for the cause of education. This was followed by Smt. R Rohini appreciated the efforts made by the school and the students for the success of the programme in her address. She also mentioned the good work done by the school in teaching students the importance of generosity in giving to those in need.
The cultural program began with a welcome dance praising Lord Ganesha, who is known for removing obstacles, and showcased synchronization and rhythm with the accompanying song. The segment entitled “Rangabhoomi” splashed the stage with colourful, rhythmic folk cultures of different states of India, including Bhangra, Lavani, Bihu, and Rajasthani dance. Classical dances depicted scenes from the Mahabharata, Shiv Tandav, and social themes, paying rich tribute to Dr. Keeravani, who has won the Golden Global Award; Ratan Tata, a humanitarian and prominent industrialist of India; and actor Chiranjeevi, who has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for his achievement of dancing in 172 styles.
The students showcased their linguistic talents through skits in Telugu, Hindi, and English. The Hindi skit on Ashoka depicted the transformation of Emperor Ashoka, who embraced Buddhism in the interest of safeguarding peace in his empire. The Telugu skit centred on the Mahabharata, the battlefield that gave us the holy Bhagavad Gita. The English skit addressed the dangers of social media, enlightening the audience about the precautions that youngsters should take. A segment on Mother’s Day advocated the importance of a mother’s love, which every child longs for. The classic play “Bishop’s Candlesticks” imparted the moral that love, kindness, and compassion can transform a hardened criminal.
All the skits were well-received by the audience and widely appreciated. The highlight of the program was the women empowerment segment presented by class XI & XII students, who portrayed the significance of women through a dance performance. The audience was mesmerized by the mime act titled “Incredible India,” which showcased India’s development over the years and its achievements in space.
The toppers of the Class X SSE and XII SSCE examinations were honoured with mementoes. Pragati House emerged as the CCA champions, followed by Anurag House, with rolling trophies awarded to the winners and runners-up. The presence of the founder chairman Dr. Kondal Rao made the function even more special. He was overwhelmed by the students’ performances and blessed them to achieve success in life.
The meticulous planning and execution by Rtn. Shri Hari Hara Prasad and Principal Dr. Lalitha Kumari were commendable and contributed significantly to the success of the programme. The teaching staff, non-teaching staff, the Art Department, managerial staff, and supporting staff all contributed wholeheartedly to the program’s success.
Overall, it was a wonderful and joyous occasion, and the entire program felt like a captivating movie, providing a variety of entertainment.
