Following Her Father’s Footsteps in Service… Raising the Flag of Victory in Sports!
Peruka Vrunda Excels in Academics, Sports, NCC and Cultural Activities
HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 11, 2026: The greatest legacy parents can pass on to their children is not wealth or property, but values, character and compassion. Embodying these ideals, Peruka Vrunda is carving a distinctive identity through her achievements in academics, sports, adventure activities, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and cultural pursuits, while drawing inspiration from her father’s exemplary life.
Her father, Peruka Raju, a renowned poet, author, literary critic, multilingual scholar and Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, is a shining example of humanity and selfless service. As the founder of My Gift, a voluntary service organisation guided by the motto “Encouragement is the Greatest Gift,” he believes in serving humanity wherever duty takes him.
For him, the entire nation is his home and humanity is his extended family. Leading a simple and disciplined life, he abstains from alcohol and non-vegetarian food. He firmly believes that the poverty and hardships of his childhood shaped his character and transformed life’s challenges into stepping stones towards success.
Having actively participated in NSS, Akshara Ujjwala and NCC activities during his student days, Mr Raju has instilled the same spirit of discipline, determination and service in his children. His daughter Vrunda is carrying forward these values through her remarkable accomplishments.
Vrunda’s sporting journey began at an early age. In 2013, she won a medal in the Inter-School Sub-Junior Athletics Competition held in Delhi. In 2017, she secured first place and received the Best Athlete medal at an inter-school athletics competition in Tamil Nadu.
Demonstrating courage and determination beyond the athletics track, she secured first place at the Rock Climbing Summer Camp held in Wellington in 2019. Continuing her successful sporting journey, she won several medals in inter-college sports competitions held at Ferozepur, Punjab, during 2022–23.
Currently pursuing her third year of Biotechnology at GITAM University, Vrunda has been an active NCC cadet since 2025. She has attended four NCC camps and earned several certificates of appreciation for her performance, discipline and dedication. She also actively participates in university-level events and cultural programmes, demonstrating her versatility and creative abilities.
Having accompanied her father to different parts of India during his military postings, Vrunda has developed an appreciation of diverse languages, traditions and cultures. Inspired by her father’s multilingual literary accomplishments, she has also cultivated an interest in learning different languages.
Despite her achievements, Vrunda remains humble, respectful and deeply rooted in family values. Her disciplined approach, perseverance and modesty reflect the ideals she has inherited from her father.
While the father wins hearts through his writings, the daughter wins medals through her talent. While the father earns admiration through selfless service, the daughter receives recognition through dedication and achievement.
Her father’s ideals form the foundation of her character, while her own hard work builds the ladder to success. Her true inheritance is not material wealth, but a legacy of values, discipline and humanity.
Following her father’s footsteps while creating a path of her own, Peruka Vrunda truly stands as a daughter worthy of her father.
