1206 candidates to contest election across 13 states and UTs in phase-2 of Lok Sabha elections: ECI

NEW DELHI, APRIL 09, 2024: The Election Commission of India has announced that 1206 candidates will be contesting in elections across 13 states and union territories going for polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Among a total of 2633 nominations filed from 88 parliament constituencies for the phase-2 of Lok Sabha elections, after scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations, a total of 1206 candidates remained in fray.

In phase-2 elections, Kerala state has received a maximum of 500 nominations from 20 parliament constituencies, followed by 491 nominations from 15 parliament constituencies in Karnataka state. A maximum of 14 nominations were received from one parliament constituency in Tripura. The Nanded constituency in Maharashtra state received 92 nominations.
