Devotees throng in large numbers to offer prayers to the presiding deity
Government Whip Adi Srinivas launches ‘Break Darshan’ facilities at Vemulawada temple shrine
Devotees can avail darshan of deity within 15 minutes through Break darshan facilities
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, AUGUST 05, 2024: There was a stream of pilgrims to the ancient and historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla with the launch of month-long Sravana masam festivities from Monday onwards
With the auspicious month of Sravana masam, the devotees thronged in large numbers to the Vemulawada temple and offered prayers by taking a holy dip at the ‘Dharmagundam’ (holy tank). The devotees competed to participate in the traditional tying of an ox (kode mokku) ritual at the shrine.
Prominent among those who visited the temple shrine include Government Whip and Vemulawada legislator Adi Srinivas and Nirmal BJP legislator and floor leader Yeleti Maheshwar Reddy. Maheshwar Reddy along with his family members offered special prayers and participated in the tying of an ox. The temple authorities provided traditional ashirvachanam to the BJP MLA and distributed prasadam and portrait of the shrine along with ‘seshavastram’.
On this occasion, the Government Whip had formally launched the ‘Break darshan’ facilities at the temple shrine, which was introduced for the benefit of pilgrims to avoid them waiting in long queue lines during special days and festivals. The break darshan would be implemented from 10.15 am to 11.15 and 4 pm to 5 pm every day and the temple would charge Rs 300 per head for break darshan.
Speaking on the occasion, Government whip and Vemulawada legislator Adi Srinivas flayed the BRS government for deceiving the devotees of Vemulawada temple shrine by promising to release Rs 100 crore every year in the budget since his visit to the temple in the year 2015. He said that the Congress government had allocated Rs 50 crore to Vemulawada temple shrine development without announcing anywhere.
He alleged that the BRS government instead of allocating the promised Rs 100 crore every year for the development of the Vemulawada temple had siphoned off Rs 6 crore temple funds to other temples during the elections by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He said that the Vemulawada temple shrine would be developed as per the ‘Agama sastra’ with the support of Shringeri peetam.
The temple authorities said that about 40 per cent of break darshan tickets are made available through online facilities on the official website of the temple shrine for the benefit of the devotees for booking.
