RAMAGUNDAM, JUNE 10, 2024: The Ramagundam Commissionerate of Police have intensified their drive against the supply of banned BT cotton seeds in the Commissionerate limits and seized fake seeds weighing 107 kgs worth Rs 3.20 lakh at Avadram cross roads under Bheemaram police station limits of Mancherial district on Monday.
Following the directions of Commissioner of Police M Srinivasulu, the Task Force inspector Sanjay, SI Upender, Bheemaram SI Ramulu and Bheemaram agricultural officer Marc Gladstone and others found a person waiting for an autorickshaw to transport the fake seeds at Avadam cross roads under Bheemaram police station limits. When he moving under suspicious circumstances, the police checked the bags and found that the seeds were fake.
On interrogation, he confessed his name as Chundu Nageshwar Rao from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh state and doing agriculture as tenant farmer in Bheemaramm and stated that he had purchased the fake seeds from Kurnool district and planning to sell the same in Mancherial district. He was handed over to the Bheemaram police for further investigation alongwith the seized fake seeds.
