

Officials also seized certain Ayurvedic medicines for making misleading claims

HYDERABAD, MARCH 20, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided an unlicensed premises located at Aravind Nagar, Jagtial Town, which was operating illegally without a drug license and seized the stocks.
In separate events, DCA seized certain medicines due to misleading advertisements; MISVELL Powder, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Mentrual disorders’ and Testorex Forte, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Sexual impotence’ in Sangareddy and Uppal towns.
In a statement here on Thursday, DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that acting on credible information regarding the illegal stocking and sale of medicines, raided an unlicensed premises located at Aravind Nagar, Jagtial Town on Wednesday which was being operated illegally by Ravi Kumar without a drug licence. During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of a huge quantity of medicines for sale. 30 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, etc., are stocked for sale at the premises. During the raid, DCA officials seized the stock worth Rs. 43,000. V. Upender, Drugs Inspector, Jagtial carried out the raid.
Seizure of drugs for misleading advertisements:
The DCA detected certain medicines circulating in the market with misleading claims on their labels, stating that they treat ‘Menstrual disorders’ and ‘Sexual impotence’. Such claims are in contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. During the raids conducted on 19th March to detect medicines moving in the market with misleading and objectionable advertisements, the following products were detected by DCA officials: Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
Persons who make misleading advertisements regarding drugs for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders are punishable under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, of 1954.
The DCA DG said the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
