HYDERABAD, APRIL 06, 2024: Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have trapped Madhapur SI and a constable (writer) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant in the police in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Sources said that the complainant Laxman Naik was constructing a house in Sainagar of Madhapur locality in his own land. However, another person Sudha had lodged a complaint stating that Laxman was constructing the house in her land. Following the registration of the case, the SI Ranjith summoned Laxman to the police station and demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh. The SI also threatened to register criminal cases against Laxman’s daughter and son-in-law.
Following the threating from the police, Laxman agreed to pay Rs 20,000 as bribe amount. He also approached the ACB, who waylaid and trapped the SI while accepting the bribe amount. The station writer Vikram was also apprehended by the ACB as he also demanded the bribe.
