HYDERABAD, MARCH 02, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a quack’s clinic in Chikkadpally Village, Rudrur Mandal, Nizamabad District and seized drugs worth Rs 20,00 stocked for sale.

Since January 2024, the DCA has registered cases against 152 quacks for the illegal stocking and sale of drugs.
On credible information, Drugs Control Administration officials, on Saturday (March 1, 2025) raided the premises of a quack/unqualified practitioner Kurma Mallesh, at Chikkadpally Village, Rudrur Mandal, Nizamabad District, who was conducting clinical practice without proper qualifications at his clinic. During the raid, DCA officials detected 34 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, antiulcer drugs etc. stocked at the premises without a drug licence. Worth of the stock seized is Rs. 20,000.
The DCA officials detected several ‘antibiotics’ viz. Cefoperazone, Ofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin, Amoxycillin at the clinic during the raids. Indiscriminate sale of antibiotics, by unqualified persons may have disastrous consequences on the health of public, including emergence of ‘Antimicrobial Resistance’.
Officials found ‘steroids’ viz. Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate at the clinic of the quack. Misusing steroids can have serious health consequences, including immune system suppression, hormonal imbalances, muscle and bone weakness, cardiovascular problems, and psychological effects. The indiscriminate use of steroids poses significant risks to public health. R. Srilatha, Drugs Inspector, Nizamabad Rural carried out the raid.
DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
