
Karimnagar DCCB emerges as first cooperative bank to launch the PM-KUSUM scheme in Telangana state
PEDDAPALLI, MAY 26, 2025: Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu has said that the state government has set a target of installing and generating 3,000 MWs of solar power through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and women’s Self-Help Groups.

The Minister handed over a sanction letter and a loan amount of Rs 3 crore to Gunjapadugu PACS in Manthani town on Monday. The PACS Gunjapadugu would generate one MW of solar power under the PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Manthri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Uttaan Mahabhiyan) scheme. The Integrated Karimnagar district had emerged as the first cooperative in the Telangana state to start the PM-KUSUM scheme.
The solar power plants would be set up by the PACS in Appannapet, Kalwa Srirampur, Nandi Medaram in Peddapalli district and Choppadandi of Karimnagar district under the PM-KUSUM scheme as part of diversification of PACS into multi-service centres (MSC).
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for IT said that Peddapalli emerged as the first district in the Telangana state to start PM-KUSUM programme in Manthani, Appannapet, Kalwa Srirampu and Nandi Medaram and congratulated DCCB and NAFSCOB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao and Collector Sree Harsha. Mr Sridhar Babu said that the PACS would earn Rs 50 lakhs through solar power project by selling the power to the NPDCL.
Congratulating the Karimnagar DCCB for emerging as a role model in the country for earning profits to the tune of over Rs 100 crore and doing business of over Rs 7,300 crore in the integrated Karimnagar district, the Minister appreciated the measures taken by the DCCB for the diversification of business activities of PACS by setting up of rice mills, petrol filling stations, CSCs etc.
Mr Sridhar Babu said that they were taking all measures for the implementation of the PM-KUSUM scheme in all the 131 PACSs of the integrated Karimnagar district along with women SHGs to generate solar power to ensure adequate power supply to the farm sector, industries and domestic sectors. Stating that the government was not imposing power cuts despite an increase in demand for power consumption, he reiterated that the government was providing 200 units of free power to the BPL people.
Collector Koya Sree Harsha said that they had identified four PACSs in Peddapalli to start solar power generation under the PM-KUSUM scheme in Manthani, Appannapet, Kalwa Srirampur and Nandi Medaram and allocated land for setting up the solar panels. He said that the PACS would earn at least Rs 50 to Rs 70 lakhs per annum through solar power generation by selling the power to NPDCL. Karimnagar DCCB and NAFSCOB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao, DCCB CEO N Satyanarayana Rao, Zilla grandhalaya samstha chairman Nagula Satyanarayana Goud, RDO Suresh, DCO C Srimala and others were also present.
