SIDDIPET, SEPTEMBER 03, 2026: Kaveri University celebrated Teachers’ Day in advance with great enthusiasm and reverence, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and recognising the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping the lives, careers and character of students on Thursday.
The programme was graced by Prof. Dr V. Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Kaveri University, who was felicitated by students and faculty members with a shawl and memento as a mark of respect and gratitude.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rao reflected on the profound and universal role of a teacher in human development. He posed a thought-provoking question: “A newborn baby never touches fire. Why? Who teaches the baby that fire is dangerous? Who is the teacher?” He observed that learning begins from the earliest stages of life—not only through formal instruction, but also through observation, experience, guidance and relationships.
He emphasised that a true teacher is anyone who inspires, influences and enables others to learn and grow, irrespective of profession or position. Doctors, judges, engineers, scientists, administrators and leaders, he noted, are all shaped at different stages of their lives by the guidance and inspiration of teachers.
Highlighting the importance of the teacher–student relationship, the Vice-Chancellor stated that education goes far beyond the transfer of knowledge. Its larger purpose is to ignite curiosity, build confidence, nurture values, shape character and prepare students for life. He called upon teachers to remain lifelong learners and mentors who inspire students to think independently, question constructively and pursue excellence with integrity.
Reflecting on the revered place accorded to teachers in Indian tradition, he recalled the Guru Stotram:
“Gurur Brahmā, Gurur Viṣṇuḥ,
Gurur Devo Maheśvaraḥ,
Guruḥ Sākṣāt Parabrahma,
Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ.”
The celebrations were attended by Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Registrar; Polsani Harsha Rao, Director of Student Welfare; Dr. P. U. Krishna Raj, Director, R&D; Deans Dr. G. Pushpa Latha, Dr. Konda Srinivas and Dr. Sunita Mehta, along with senior professors, Heads of Departments, faculty members and students.
As part of the celebrations, a range of sports and recreational competitions, including cricket, chess, carrom and volleyball, were organised for students and faculty members. The winners were felicitated and presented with prizes by the Vice-Chancellor.
The celebrations concluded on a joyful and memorable note, reaffirming Kaveri University’s commitment to honouring teachers, strengthening student–faculty relationships and fostering a vibrant academic culture built on learning, values, mentorship and holistic development.
