KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 26, 2026: The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a state-of-the-art auditorium of the Karimnagar Film Society (KAFISO) on the Karimnagar-Sircilla bypass road will be held on Saturday (September 26, 2026).
KAFISO advisor and former MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Civil Supplies Director GV Shyam Prasad Lal would participate as chief guests and BC Study Circle Director Mamidi Harikrishna as the honourary guest. The local municipal corporator M Rajender, Gaddi Pradeep, Padmanagar former sarpach Gaddam Sriramulu, KAFISO advisor Varala Mahesh, Sahithi Gauthami president Nandi Srinivas and others would also attend, said KAFISO president Ponnam Ravichandra and secretary K Laxman, in a press statement here on Friday.
The KAFISO was established in the year 1978 to promote parallel art cinema and meaningful global movies outside mainstream commercial theatres. It may be recalled that the founder members Naradasu Laxman Rao and Naredla Srinivas were instrumental in the allocation of land from the then Collector C Parthasarathi and construction of Film Bhavan. Incidentally, the KAFISO’s Film Bhavan became only the second dedicated self-owned space for parallel cinema in South India, following in the footsteps of the Suchitra Film Society in Bengaluru.
The proposed new KAFISO auditorium would have all the special features for the screening of films, with good seating arrangements and other amenities for the entertainment of film lovers.
