KARIMNAGAR, MAY 08, 2024: Telangana State Civil Supplies Commissioner DS Chauhan has said that the government was committed to procure the damage paddy produce by providing minimum support price to the farmers in the state.
The Civil Supplies Commissioner visited the Gangadhara agricultural marketyard and Madhunagar villages to oversee the procurement of the paddy produce in Karimnagar district on Wednesday. Reiterating that the government was taking all measures to protect the interests of the farmers, he said that the damaged paddy would be also procured by providing MSP.
Inspecting the moisture content personally at the procurement centres, Mr Chauhan interacted with the farmers and inquired about securing MSP, payment details and other issues. He also inquired with the officials about the procurement done and expected arrivals to the centres.
Later, talking to newsmen, Mr Chauhan said that he was touring the district to instil confidence among the farming community that the government was committed to procure the paddy produce by providing MSP. He said that the government would take stern action against the millers if they resort to deduction of weighment and cause losses to the farmers.
Directing the officials to ensure that the farmers were not harassed by the rice millers, he instructed them to be alert following the possible unseasonal rains and protect the farmers produce. He also informed them to make all arrangements for the farmers at the procurement centre to protect their produce from the rains and hailstorms by supplying adequate tarpaulins.
Appealing the farmers to clean the paddy produce before bringing it to the procurement centres to secure MSP, he also directed the officials to shift the procured paddy to the rice mills immediately. Additional Collector Laxmi Kiran, Civil Supplies district manager Rajanikanth, incharge DSO Suresh Reddy, marketing officer Padmavathi, DCO Ramanuja Charya, DRDO Sridhar, Gangadhar ADA Rama Rao and others were also present.
