RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, JULY 15, 2024: In an unusual development, Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam has witnessed very low turnout of devotees even on the auspicious Monday (July 15, 2025) in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district.
Normally, the temple shrine would be packed to the brim with the arrival of hordes of devotees on Mondays to offer special prayers to the presiding deities. Surprisingly, the pilgrims rush had dwindled considerably on Monday. There were no takers for the traditional ‘kode mokku’ rituals and the queues wore a deserted look.
However, the temple authorities said that the pilgrims rush had reduced due to Ashadam month (moodam). It is believed that the pilgrims would not visit the temple shrines during the Ashadam month and they would prefer offering prayers to various goddess as part of Bonalu festivities.
The devotees rush would again swell in the month of Shravana masam during the period the devasthanam would conduct special prayers for the presiding deities.
