KARIMNAGAR, MAY 31, 2026: The state-wide entrance test for Physical Education, organised by Satavahana University, commenced today at the university sports grounds under the chairmanship of University VC Prof. Umesh Kumar.
Addressing the candidates regarding the entrance test, he emphasised that Physical Education is currently a highly significant field of study, noting that the number of available seats is limited. Consequently, he urged candidates to exert their utmost effort in the competitive process, demonstrating their talent in both physical fitness and skill development tests in order to qualify for the TG PECET.
He further highlighted that, at a time when the State Government is prioritising sports, the university is not only conducting this common entrance examination but also plans to construct a synthetic track at the sports grounds and complete the construction of a sports pavilion gallery within the coming year.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of CET, Professor V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Higher Education Council, stated that the State Government had evaluated various universities for the purpose of conducting entrance examinations. As part of this initiative, the Common Entrance Test for Physical Education was allocated to Satavahana University. Expressing his hope for the successful conduct of these examinations, he remarked that contemporary India is a “Young India,” and emphasised the need for the youth to demonstrate talent not only in academics but also in the field of sports, noting that excellence in sports can lead to better employment opportunities. He further explained that a degree in Physical Education opens up diverse career avenues such as becoming a coach, a sports officer, or a professional athlete and highlighted that sports contribute significantly not only to physical and mental well-being but also to overall physical fitness. Urging the candidates to perform their best and qualify in the entrance test, he formally inaugurated the competitions with great fanfare by releasing balloons into the air.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Professor Lakshmikanth Rathod, former VC of Palamuru University, pointed out that a degree in Physical Education offers immense employment opportunities, extending beyond just sports to include fields such as fitness and allied sectors. Professor Sriram Venkatesh, Secretary of the Telangana State HEC, also participated in the event as a distinguished guest. The program commenced with a 100-meter sprint event.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Rajesh Kumar, Convener of the Physical Education Entrance Examination, announced that experienced testers along with physical education officers from various universities would conduct physical fitness and proficiency tests for students across several sports disciplines. He reported that on the first day of the examination process, 713 candidates had applied for the Bachelor of Physical Education program; of these, 531 participated in the entrance test, while 181 were absent. Similarly, for the Diploma in Physical Education program, 285 candidates applied, with 190 appearing for the exams and 95 remaining absent. He further stated that as part of the physical fitness assessments, events such as the 100-meter run, 800-meter run, shot put, long jump, and high jump were conducted for male candidates; regarding physical proficiency tests, assessments were held in basketball, cricket, badminton, and kabaddi.
The inaugural session of this Joint Entrance Examination for Physical Education was attended by Registrar Professor Satish Kumar; Harikanth (OSD to VC); Nazimuddin Munawar (Secretary of the Satavahana University Sports Board); Professor Prabhakar Reddy; Deepla, Jagan, Sudhakar Rao; Professor Sunil Kumar; and Professor Dileep. University PD Vijay Kumar, Physical Education Officers from various universities and Physical Education Instructors also participated in the event and assisted in conducting the examinations.
