AMARAVATI, AUGUST 11, 2026: Â The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Banothu Mangamma, the Superintendent, CGST, Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, in a bribery case.
The CBI registered the instant case against the said accused based on a complaint alleging that the accused public servant demanded a bribe of Rs.1,50,000 from the Complainant, who is running a private company, for not issuing a demand notice towards tax liability and for closing the matter.
The CBI laid a trap on Monday and caught the accused public servant red-handed while accepting Rs. 50,000, as part of the demanded bribe amount. The bribe amount of Rs. 50,000 was recovered during the trap proceedings.
Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused public servant at Vijayawada. The accused public servant has been arrested and was produced before the competent court at Vijayawada on Tuesday. Investigation in the case is continuing.
