NALGONDA, AUGUST 10, 2026: The grand Varuna Yagna, conducted by the government while fervently invoking the deities for widespread rains across the state, was completed in a scientifically precise manner, with utmost devotion and faith, amidst the Vedic chants of scholars and the sacred Vedic rituals, on Monday.
This sacred Varuna Yagna, performed on the banks of the Krishna River near Vijay Vihar at Nagarjuna Sagar, saw Chief Minister Revanth_Anumula and his spouse participate, conducting the Yagna rituals under the guidance of the Ritwiks and offering the Purnahuti.
Under the auspices of the temple priests and Vedic scholars of Shri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta, Homa rituals were performed in the Vedic tradition with 108 Ritwiks and 11 Homa kundas, seeking the blessings of Varuna Devudu. In this sacred Yagna, Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and his spouse participated.
In a divine and spiritual atmosphere, the Chief Minister prayed for abundant rains in the Krishna and Godavari basin areas. He stated that this Varuna Yagna was conducted with the resolve that all people of the state live in comfort, happiness, and prosperity.
In Indian culture, performing Yagas, Yajnas, and pujas to invoke rains is a spiritual tradition passed down from our ancestors. While the government moves forward with scientific assessments and plans, it also honours the culture and traditions that reflect the interconnectedness of rain, agriculture, nature, and human life, and beseeches nature’s grace.
According to meteorological department estimates, due to El Niño, rainfall in the state this year is likely to be below normal. In this context, the government conducted this Maha Varuna Yagna.
“May there be widespread rains in the state. May the Krishna and Godavari rivers flow full. May all projects, including Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar, be brimming. May every tank and every pond in the state sparkle with water. May groundwater levels rise. May crops yield bountifully. May smiles appear on the faces of farmers. May the state be verdant and prosperous, with all its people enjoying long life, health, comfort, and happiness,” the Chief Minister prayed to Lord Varuna.
In this sacred Varuna Yagna programme, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha_Sukender, Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Konda Surekha, government advisors K. Keshav Rao, P. Sudarshan Reddy, former Minister K. Jana Reddy, along with people’s representatives, participated.
