KARIMNAGAR, JULY 19, 2024: Students of Alphores Tiny Tots, Vavilalapalli, Karimnagar town, celebrated the Bonalu festival on the auspicious month of ‘Ashadam’, which is time for display of devotion and celebration of a live festival on Friday.
It was a riot of colour, customs, traditions and dance. The students in their traditional attire carried ‘Bonam’, a new earthen pot containing the rice cooked with turmeric, which acts as anti-biotic, and nutritional jaggery and milk and decorated with neem leaves, on their heads in a procession led by Potharajus amid drum beats.
On this occasion, the traditional Bonalu songs were played forcing the students to dance to the rhythmic beats. Alphores educational institutions chairman V Narender Reddy launched the celebrations by offering prayers to Goddess Durga and enlightened the students on the importance of celebrating ‘Bonalu’ festival in the Telangana state.
