Technological Tools Are Essential for Language Proficiency– Dr. Suresh Kumar
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 23, 2026: A two-day workshop on “Digital Urdu Tools, Computer-Aided Translation, Urdu Calligraphy, and Modern Urdu Orthography” was inaugurated at the Government Women’s Degree College (Autonomous), Karimnagar. The event was organised jointly by the University’s Department of Urdu and the college’s Urdu Department under Satavahana University’s “Academic Strengthening Programme for Government Degree Colleges (100-Day Programme).” In-charge Principal Afsar Usmani presided over the session along with the head of the Urdu Department, Masroor Sultana.
Speaking as the chief guest, Controller of Examinations D. Suresh Kumar remarked that digital technology and artificial intelligence have become indispensable in today’s competitive world. He stated that this workshop, initiated by the university to equip Urdu students with modern digital skills, would prove highly beneficial to them.
Speaking as a distinguished guest, Mohammed Abrar-ul-Baqui, Head of the Urdu Department and Vice-Principal of the College of Arts and Social Sciences at SU, mentioned providing practical training in digital literacy, AI-driven learning, digital Urdu tools, computer-aided translation, Urdu calligraphy, and modern Urdu orthography, thereby enabling students to compete successfully at national and international levels. He urged the students to make the most of this opportunity.
Mohammed Jafar Jari, Associate Professor in Urdu, CDC dean cum workshop coordinator, outlined the workshop’s goals and structure and mentioned that help was contributed by VC prof Umesh Kumar.
The first technical session was conducted by Prof. M. Abdus Sami Siddiqui from Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, on the topic “Digital Urdu Tools and Artificial Intelligence.” He provided hands-on training in AI-based digital tools such as ChatGPT, Canva, notebook LLM, and Claude, while imparting skills relevant to Urdu teaching, research, translation, academic writing, presentations, and content development. Kaleem Mohiuddin from the Government Degree and PG College, Siddipet, conducted the second technical session on the topic “Computer-Aided Literary Translation.” He explained the principles and practical methods of translation between English and Urdu using modern software and digital resources.
Faculty members Nazimuddin Munwar and Humera Tasneem, along with students from the university’s Urdu department and the Urdu department of the Women’s Degree College, participated in this workshop.
