KARIMNAGAR, JULY 23, 2026: The Department of Commerce and Business Management of Vivekananda Degree and PG College in Karimnagar town organised an Income Tax Day Awareness Programme to educate Commerce and Management students on the importance of taxation, financial literacy, voluntary tax compliance, and nation-building. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof Ch. Srinivas highlighted the importance of financial literacy and responsible citizenship. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Income Tax Department in creating awareness among students and encouraged them to develop a positive attitude towards tax compliance. He remarked that awareness programmes of this nature help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world financial practices, preparing students for successful professional careers.
Delivering the keynote address, D. Kiran Kumar, the Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, explained the significance of Income Tax Day and the vital role of taxation in the country’s economic development. He emphasised that taxes collected from citizens contribute to the development of infrastructure, education, healthcare, defence, and various public welfare programmes. He urged students to become responsible taxpayers and ambassadors of tax awareness in society.

And Mr Taselhi Kezo, Income Tax Officer, also explained the importance of obtaining a PAN, filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) on time, understanding TDS, and using the Income Tax Department’s digital services. He highlighted the department’s technology-driven initiatives that make tax filing simpler, faster, and more transparent. He also encouraged students to explore career opportunities in the Income Tax Department and the field of taxation by preparing for competitive examinations and continuously enhancing their professional knowledge.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which students actively interacted with the officials and clarified their doubts regarding income tax filing, digital taxation, taxpayer responsibilities, and career prospects.
