Executing agency destroys the plantation taken up under ‘Pattana Pakruthi Vanam’ and vanamahotsavams
District authorities should ensure parking lots by removing fencing around the parking area in front of the SBI
Authorities should also check the encroachment of MCK on the premises of the Collectorate
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 12, 2026: Thanks to the unscientific execution of the new Integrated District Office Complex (Collectorate) on the existing premises in Karimnagar town is likely to pose a serious threat of possible inundation of the old Collectorate building complex due to the laying of the road (entrance gate) in an illogical manner without allowing the proper discharge of rainwater in the existing structure.
The IDOC complex was taken up at the behest of then Minister Gangula Kamalakar in the year 2021 on the existing Collectorate office complex, which was the first of its kind integrated office complex of the integrated Andhra Pradesh state. Though the then authorities had informed the Minister about the construction of the Collectorate office complex on the shores of picturesque LMD reservoir at Satavahana University Pharmacy college, the then Minister stated that it was far away and forced the authorities to construct the IDOC by demolishing a part of the old Collectorate.
During the demolition of part of the old Collectorate building, several documents pertaining to various matters, including Land records, were reportedly damaged or disappeared. On the other hand, several offices were relocated to various locations following the construction of the IDOC and demolition of the old Collectorate.

For the IDOC, the authorities had initially proposed main entrance opposite to the Revenue garden road from the existing gate. However, in the name of ‘vastu’, the authorities had shifted the main gate entrance adjacent to the PF office. In the name of construction of entrance gate and laying of road from the gate to the IDOC, the authorities had completely destroyed the old Collectorate office complex by laying the road closing the entrance to the existing Collector’s and Additional Collector’s chambers. Besides, the road had also completely closed the entrance to the existing auditorium in the collectorate where Prajavani and other meetings are conducted.
If there are rains, the Collectorate auditorium and Collector’s office would be inundated with flood waters as there is no drainage system to let out the storm water. In the name of laying a new road, the executing agency had destroyed fully grown trees taken up under ‘Pattana pakruthi vanam’ and other plantation drives taken by the authorities over the years.
It is time for the authorities to act swiftly before the old collectorate office is inundated with floods due to the unscientific execution of the entrance road to the new IDOC. The district authorities should also think about the removal of encroachment of the parking area on the collectorate premises by MCK, who acted as per their whims and fancies, for their selfish gains.
