KARIMNAGAR, JULY 21, 2026: Alphores e-techno school, Kothapalli, Karimnagar town, was a hub of vibrant festivities as students and staff came together to celebrate the annual Bonalu festival on Tuesday.
The school campus was adorned with traditional decorations, creating an atmosphere that mirrored the cultural essence of Telangana’s famous festival.
Bonalu is a festival dedicated to the Hindu goddess Mahankali. It involves a series of rituals, including the offering of food (bonam) to the goddess. At Alphores e-techno school, the celebrations were a blend of these traditional practices with educational and fun activities.
The event commenced with a special assembly where students performed a prayer to seek blessings from the goddess. This was followed by a series of cultural performances including traditional dance forms like Potharaju. The students, dressed in colourful attire, showcased their talent and brought the spirit of the festival to life.
Alphores Educational Institutions chairman V Narender Reddy highlighted the importance of celebrating regional festivals. “Bonalu is not just a festival; it’s a reflection of our rich cultural heritage. By celebrating it in school, we aim to instil a sense of pride and respect for our traditions among the students,” he said.
He also shared the history and significance of Bonalu, where students learned about the origins of the festival, its rituals, and its role in the cultural tapestry of Telangana. This educational aspect helped students gain a deeper understanding of the festival beyond its visual and performative elements.
