HYDERABAD, JULY 29, 2026: Dr Buddhaprakash Jyoti, Chairman and Managing Director of The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), virtually inaugurated the 300 KW Solar Power Plant established at Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited (APHMEL), an SCCL subsidiary located in Vijayawada, on Wednesday from Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, as part of the company’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, on Wednesday.
He also inaugurated the newly constructed CC and RCC internal roads developed to strengthen the plant’s infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, the C&MD said that under the guidance of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister & Minister for Energy Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, SCCL is moving ahead with a comprehensive plan to diversify and strengthen APHMEL along with its parent organisation.
Congratulating the employees, Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti expressed happiness that APHMEL had achieved its highest-ever turnover of ₹63.13 crore and a record net profit of ₹23.33 crore, the best performance in the company’s 50-year history. He described this achievement as a result of the vision, guidance and encouragement extended by the Deputy Chief Minister during his visit to APHMEL last year. He further recalled that the Deputy Chief Minister had assured support for improving infrastructure at the plant, following which the CC and RCC internal roads were taken up and completed.
Established on September 1, 1976, APHMEL has entered its Golden Jubilee Year. The C&MD called upon the management to focus on business diversification by exploring opportunities beyond the machinery, equipment, and spare parts currently being manufactured, keeping in view the evolving requirements of various industries. He assured that SCCL would continue to extend all necessary support to APHMEL, particularly in adopting modern technologies and achieving higher levels of industrial growth.
Solar Plant to Generate Significant Savings
 APHMEL presently spends around ₹60 lakh annually towards electricity consumption for both its manufacturing plant and residential colony. The newly commissioned 300 KW Solar Power Plant, established at a cost of ₹1.24 crore, is expected to reduce electricity expenditure by approximately ₹24 lakh every year. The investment is expected to be recovered within five years while also promoting renewable energy and environmentally sustainable practices.
Speaking at the programme, APHMEL Chairman Sri N.V.K. Srinivas outlined the company’s future development plans. He stated that APHMEL has completed orders received from SCCL, Coal India Limited, and NMDC within the stipulated timelines.
The programme was attended by SCCL Directors Sri L.V. Suryanarayana, Sri K. Venkateswarlu, Sri Gowtham Potru, and Sri M. Tirumala Rao, Executive Director (Coal Movement) Sri B. Venkanna, and General Manager (Coordination & Marketing) Sri T. Srinivas, Managing Director Sri M. Yerranna from APHMEL, Vijayawada, along with senior officers and employees, who participated in the event.
