KARIMNAGAR, JULY 22, 2026: Thanks to the unscientific execution of the main entrance road to the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC), the premises of the old Collectorate office building in Karimnagar town are flooded and inundated due to no proper rainwater drains and the closure of the existing drains by the executing agency of IDOC.
On Tuesday night, there was moderate rainfall in Karimnagar town. However, the old Collectorate office complex was inundated at its main entrance near the Gandhi statue and Collectorate auditorium, Collector’s chambers and in front of the SBI branch due to closure of drains and parking sheds. The MCK authorities’ encroachment of parking sheds by taking up plantation of saplings in the parking space and closure of drains is adding to the woes.
It may be recalled that the officials had initially planned to open the main entrance gates of IDOC opposite the Union Bank of India (UBI) branch and accordingly taken up construction works also. However, they changed their plan and shifted the main entrance adjacent to the PF office. In the name of laying a road from IDOC to the PF office, the executing agency had completely closed the road to the Collectorate by dumping huge gravel and laying a CC road.
With no let out of the rain water following a huge ramp, waterlogging was seen in front of the auditorium. Similarly, the water was logging at the main entrance of the old Collectorate building as the drains were closed, and the same thing at the SBI branch.
If the situation is precarious with a small amount of rainfall, one can imagine the fate of the old Collectorate building with its complete submergence if there are heavy rains in the days to come. It is time for the authorities to take appropriate measures to avoid inundation of the old Collectorate building, which would be housing several government offices which are presently located in the hired premises in various parts of the town.
