NTPC Telangana Conducts Mock Drill on Ash Dyke Breach Scenario
RAMAGUNDAM, JULY 01, 2026: As part of its commitment to strengthening emergency preparedness and response systems, NTPC Telangana successfully conducted a Mock Drill on the Ash Dyke Breach Scenario on 30 June 2026 at 4:15 PM at the NTPC Telangana Ash Dyke, in accordance with the Disaster Management Plan (DMP).
The mock drill was witnessed by Mr Mukul Rai, GM (O&M), Telangana; Mr Sanjay Kumar, GM (O&M), Ramagundam; Mr N.K. Sharma, GM (Maintenance), Telangana; senior officers of NTPC; the Deputy Commandant (CISF–Fire); and representatives from the State Government Fire Services, Godavarikhani.
The exercise commenced with the declaration of a simulated ash dyke breach, triggering the activation of the emergency response mechanism. Emergency Response Teams (ERTs), along with representatives from Safety (R&T), CISF–Fire & Security, Medical, HR, Civil, O&M–Telangana, AUD (R&T), AHD (R&T), and other concerned departments, responded promptly and effectively.
During the drill, the affected area was secured, simulated rescue and containment measures were carried out, and seamless communication was maintained between the Emergency Control Centre and key officials. The coordinated efforts of all participating teams demonstrated the effectiveness of the established emergency response procedures.
The mock drill was completed successfully, showcasing satisfactory response time, inter-departmental coordination, and adherence to the Emergency Response Plan. The exercise provided an opportunity to evaluate preparedness levels and reinforce the importance of swift and coordinated action during emergency situations.
A debriefing session was conducted at the site following the completion of the exercise. During the session, observations made during the drill were shared with all participants, and valuable suggestions for further strengthening emergency preparedness and response capabilities were discussed.
