HYDERABAD, JULY 09, 2026:Â The ‘Teej’ festival, a cultural celebration marking the monsoon season, was organised by the Banjara Students Association and celebrated with great grandeur on the premises of Satavahana University in Karimnagar town on Thursday.
University students and faculty attended the event, which showcased Banjara culture and traditions. University Vice Chancellor Prof. U. Umesh Kumar, the chief guest, praised the Teej festival as a reflection of the unique Banjara culture and its reverence for nature. He urged students to preserve their roots and traditions while pursuing higher education. He noted that organising such cultural festivals on campus fosters unity and creativity among students.

Guest of Honour Prof. P. Satish Kumar highlighted the significance of the Teej festival, celebrated with deep devotion by the Banjara community as a mirror to their culture, and advocated for its annual celebration. Distinguished guests, including Padmavathi (Director of the SC/ST Cell and Principal of the Arts and Law Colleges), emphasised that celebrating festivals and events based on their customs and traditions is essential for the enduring preservation of Banjara culture.
Science College Principal Ramakanth and others also participated and oversaw the festivities. Subsequently, the guests congratulated the representatives of the Banjara Student Association and the students for successfully organising the celebrations. On this occasion, student leaders honoured the university officials and professors in a grand, traditional manner by draping them with shawls.
Faculty members from various departments and students, including Anil, Tarun, Ramakrishna, Vaishnavi, and Divya Bulli participated in the event.
