KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 23, 2026: Daram Susheela Devi Charitable Trust has observed International Widows Day to provide some solace and raise awareness about the human rights, economic hardships and social stigma faced by widows worldwide.
At a programme organised on the occasion in Karimnagar town on Tuesday, the Trust provided needy kits such as steel plates and glasses, a towel, a bedsheet and an umbrella packed in a cloth bag to 20 widows. Guests were also widows, including Suguna, mother of MRO Kalicharan and Shoba, mother of tax consultant Rajender.
Trust chairman and senior physician Dr D Raghu Raman said that International Widow’s Day is a day dedicated to recognising millions of widows around the world who have lost their spouses and who often face so many challenges and injustices as a result. He further said that this day, which is observed by the United Nations, is not merely a moment of reflection but to call for action for each person to stand in solidarity with widows for a better tomorrow.

On this occasion, the speakers recollected the success stories of several widows who faced hardships and had nurtured their children to become successful in their lives by providing education and necessary guidance.
