G Venkat Swamy alias ‘Kaka’s’ legacy continues in Peddapalli parliament constituency

PEDDAPALLI, JUNE 04, 2024: Industrialist Dr Gaddam Vamshi Krishna continued the legacy of his grandfather G Venkat Swamy alias ‘Kaka’ to continue and serve the society by winning from the Peddapalli reserved parliament constituency during his maiden election contest on Tuesday.

After Venkat Swamy, who had performed hatrick from the Peddapalli parliament constituency by winning in 1989, 1991 and 1996 elections and also in 2004 elections, his son Dr G Vivekanand had won in 2009 elections. Now in 2024 elections, Vivekanand’s son Dr Vamshi Krishna had contested and won from the constituency by securing a lead of 1,31,364 votes against his nearest rival and BJP contestant Gomasa Srinivas. The BRS candidate and former Minister Koppula Eshwar was placed at third position.

Incidentally, three persons from the same family are now representing the Peddapalli in the Parliament and the Assembly constituencies. His father G Vivekanand represents the Chennur assembly segment, while his uncle and Vivek’s elder brother, G Vinod Kumar represents Bellampalli constituency, both of which are under the Peddapalli parliament constituency.

Vivekanand, who was with the BJP, had joined the Congress before the 2023 assembly elections, reportedly on the condition of two Assembly seats and a Parliament ticket.

The Peddapalli parliament segment has seven assembly constituencies – Peddapalli, Manthani, Ramagundam, Dharmapuri, Chennur, Mancherial, and Bellampalli. The Congress had won all the seven constituencies in the 2023 assembly elections, which helped Vamshikrishna win the parliament seat.
