HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 16, 2024: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Secretariat in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that “the unveiling of the statue of former PM Rajiv Gandhi is not a venue to speak politics. However, I want to bring out a few things since some political forces are making hue and cry on the installation of the statue of a great Indian leader Rajiv Gandhi. I am reminding those who amassed public money through illegal means. What is the meaning of ‘sacrifice’?
History means the struggle of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru who languished in jail for the independence of the country. Nehru’s family lost everything to the cause of India’s freedom. It was Nehru who merged 563 princely states with the independent India to preserve national integrity. Nehru restored peace and tranquillity in the blood-soaked country due to religious clashes, he reminded.
The first Prime Minister of India Pandit Nehru laid the foundation for irrigation and education which have been given top priority during his regime. The famous Nagarjuna Sagar project was also constructed during Nehru rule, he stated and added that some unscrupulous elements are speaking about family politics. Indira Gandhi did not take any post while Nehru was the PM of the country. Indiramma is still worshipped as a goddess by the poor. She nationalized the banks and strove for the development of the poor. Indira Gandhi is credited with abolishing the privy purse, he pointed out.
It was Indira Gandhi who provided housing to the poor and fulfilled their dream of owning a house. Lambada communities were also included in the ST category and backward communities are provided reservation during Indira Gandhi rule. Indira Gandhi sacrificed her entire life for the country till the last drop of blood.
Rajiv Gandhi took the reins of the country when the nation was in deep crisis. It was Rajiv Gandhi who gave the right to vote for all 18 year olds aiming to keep the country safe in the hands of youth. Isn’t Rajiv Gandhi credited with amending the constitution and bringing reforms to provide more powers and funds to the Gram Panchayats? Was it not Rajiv Gandhi who introduced reservation for women in the local body institutions? Did not Rajiv delegate powers to women in the local bodies?
The previous government did not know the importance of women’s self-respect. Not a single woman was inducted in the cabinet in the BRS- one government, he stated. Rajiv Gandhi introduced a technological revolution in the country. KTR had to sell Idli and eggs in Guntur or chai in Siddipet if Rajiv Gandhi did not introduce computers in the country, he pointed out.
KTR has reached this level because Rajiv Gandhi introduced computer technology in the country. The BRS leadership is still egoistic despite losing power in the state. Sonia Gandhi stayed away from ascending the posts even after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi did not hold any office from 2004 to 2014 during the Congress regime. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi are synonymous to sacrifices. Congress party is credited with making ‘Telangana bidda’ PV Narasimha Rao as Prime Minister of the country.
The BRS family leaders looted the state for 10 years and enjoyed power. Now, they levelled allegations on the family rule. Noted leader during the Telangana armed struggle Chakali Ilamma already said the ‘Gadi’ (forts) should be liberated from Doras (feudal lords).
With the inspiration of Ilamma, I am making a statement today that the farmhouse will be filled with ‘Jilledu’ plants soon and the Congress will not rest till then. You built a farmhouse and Pragati Bhavan in 1000 acres. The 10 years is not enough to install the statue of the Telangana Talli? The opposition raised the demand for the installation of Telangana Talli status soon after the government announced the Rajiv Gandhi statue.
Appealing to the people whether it is appropriate to place the statue of Rajiv Gandhi who sacrificed his life for the nation. Some forces are talking about the removal of the statue of Rajiv Gandhi. Let them come. I will see, he stated. The BRS government was in deep slumber for 10 years and today the Congress government is installing the Telangana Talli statue inside the State Secretariat. Government will install the Telangana Talli statue in the head office of the state administration – Secretariat on December 9 this year.

The women’s university is also named after Ilamma. The Telugu University will be named after Suravaram Prathapareddy, he stated
Irritated after losing power, KCR is instigating some of his party leaders against the government. The Kalakeya gang turned into a swarm of Locusts and were ready to attack the villages to swallow Telangana again. He appealed to the people to be on high alert and throw out the army of locusts outside Telangana.
