Railway tracks washed away in Warangal district; several trains cancelled

WARANGAL, SEPTEMBER 01, 2024:  In the wake of incessant rains for the last 24 hours, all lakes and tanks are overflowing, the South Central Railway has cancelled several train services between Kazipet and Vijayawada following the washing of the railway tracks at Thalapusapally and railway track dangling in water between Nekkonda and Kesamudram in Warangal district.

The timely action by the SCR railway authorities mainly the Patrolman and Engineering department could save a train accident as they stopped the trains on the route on the nearby railway stations. The Machilipatnam Express train was stopped at Mahabubabad railway station.

Among the cancelled trains, the Karimnagar to Tirupati train is also included. Presently, the SCR authorities have cancelled the trains for two days on Sunday and Monday as they have to restore the damaged railway lines. If the rains continue, the cancellation would be extended for a few more days.
